What Is the Watch Around Water (WAW) Policy at NARC?

The Watch Around Water (WAW) policy helps ensure the safety of children in and around aquatic environments. Parents and guardians are responsible for actively supervising children at all times while visiting the centre.

👶 What to do for Children Under 5 Years?

Children under 5 years of age must:

✅ Be accompanied into the aquatic area by a parent or guardian
✅ Remain within arm's reach of their parent or guardian at all times
✅ Be actively supervised in and around the water

This applies regardless of the child's swimming ability.

🏊 What to do for Children Under 10 Years?

Children under 10 years of age must:

✅ Be actively supervised by a responsible person aged 16 years or older
✅ Remain within clear sight of their supervisor at all times
✅ Receive continuous supervision while in and around aquatic areas

Active supervision means giving children your full attention and being ready to respond immediately if assistance is needed.

💙 Why Is the Watch Around Water Policy Important?

The Watch Around Water program promotes:

✅ Safer aquatic environments
✅ Active parental supervision
✅ Reduced risk of accidents around water
✅ Greater awareness of children's safety needs

Water safety is a shared responsibility, and active supervision is essential for keeping children safe.
