At Northcote Swim Bright, we are committed to supporting every swimmer's development through structured and consistent assessment. Our goal is to ensure all swimmers receive the feedback and guidance they need to progress with confidence. 🌊
🔍 Assessment Schedule
- Each class is assessed twice per term — that’s approximately 8 assessments per year.
- Assessments are conducted by our Pool Deck Supervising Team, working on a rotating schedule. This means each level is assessed in a designated week to ensure fairness and consistency.
🤝 Requesting an Assessment
Parents and carers are welcome to request an assessment at any time. Here’s how:
- 📧 Email or 📞 Call our Swim Bright team
- 🏊 Speak with our team on pool deck before or after your class
If an assessment cannot be completed immediately due to a high assessment load, we will aim to schedule it for the following week.
💬 Feedback & Progress Updates
After an assessment, our team will aim to speak directly with the swimmer’s responsible adult to:
- Share the assessment outcome
- Highlight any skills needing improvement
- Offer guidance for progression to the next level
⏳ How Long Will My Child Stay in a Level?
Our School-Aged Program is skill-based, not age-based — unlike our Babies and Toddlers Program, which follows developmental milestones.
- ⏱️ On average, a child will remain in a level for 8–11 months
- 🧭 If a swimmer reaches 11+ months in the same level, this is not a cause for concern.
Our team will develop a tailored Action Plan that outlines:- Goals for the swimmer
- Teaching strategies
- Support suggestions for parents
📆 Changes to the Assessment Schedule
While we strive to maintain a consistent assessment cycle, unforeseen operational changes may occasionally cause adjustments. Rest assured — every class will still be assessed at least once per term.
❓ What If My Child Misses Their Class Assessment?
If your child misses their scheduled assessment, simply:
- Speak to our Pool Deck Team during your next visit
- We’ll organise an assessment for:
- A future group session, or
- An individual assessment where possible
We’re here to support every swimmer’s progress — step by step, stroke by stroke. 💙🏊♀️ If you have any questions or would like to request an assessment, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team.
