Dear Creche Familes,
We are writing to share some important and difficult news regarding the Childcare service at Northcote Aquatic Recreation Centre (NARC).
After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close our creche service. The final day of operation will be Friday, December 19th.
Please note that the creche will continue to run its regular schedule up until this final date, and we look forward to seeing your children during this time.
We understand that this news will be disappointing, and we want to sincerely acknowledge the disruption this causes to your routine. We value the trust you have placed in us by allowing us to care for your children, and we know our creche has been an important part of your family’s experience at NARC. We also want to acknowledge the dedication of our operating partner, Bridge Darebin, who has managed the creche service with commitment and care.
Why this decision was made
As you know, the childcare landscape and the needs of our community are constantly evolving. Our analysis shows that enrolments have continued to decline, and the service is unfortunately no longer meeting the needs or usage patterns of our wider membership and local families.
This decision allows us to realign our resources with the programs that are most utilised and valued by our community, ensuring NARC continues to offer high-quality, relevant services long-term.
Next Steps Regarding Unused Sessions
To ensure a smooth transition, we will be contacting customers who have childcare sessions on their account to arrange the return of any unused childcare session fees. You will have two options:
- Credit: Apply the balance as a credit to your existing NARC membership or account.
- Refund: Receive a full refund back to your nominated bank account (BSB and account number required).
Our team will begin reaching out from Monday, December 8th, to process your preferred option. You are also welcome to contact our Member Services team if you would like to initiate your refund/credit process sooner.

Regarding Your NARC Membership
We understand that the creche closure may impact your ability or desire to continue with your NARC membership.
If you wish to discuss options for pausing or cancelling your wider NARC membership, please contact our Member Services team directly at info@northcoteaquaticreccentre.com.au. They are ready to assist you and answer any questions you may have.
